Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine Brewed with Honey
Received a 375 ML bottle from former BA @BMBCLT 1-14-23. 2020 edition consumed 1-24-24.
Beer poured burgundy brown with an okay off-white head that dissipated quickly.
Nose is very nice as i am getting dark fruit notes, light vanilla, and barrel.
Taste is a light but substantial malt base that is giving figs and raisins. Barrel presence kicks in and gives a touch of vanilla. Finishes with a touch of honey sweetness but not cloyingly so.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied but lacks a heft presence given the high gravity.
Overall a tasty beer that i am glad i got the opportunity to try!

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a brownish color and a mostly cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, off white, somewhat long-lasting head. Not a whole lot of lacing.
S: A very nice aroma of honey, malt, caramel, and hops.
T: Tasted of a good amount of malt (present throughout, but subtle), a moderate amount of hops (mostly in the finish - adds a little zip to it), some caramel (quite a sweet element), and a good shot of the advertised honey. This is a balanced, focused, and interesting flavor. Gets better as you go along. The honey is a good addition. Pretty tasty.
F: A so-so amount of carbonation with a sharp finish. Medium-bodied.
O: On the whole a solidly made beer. Worth a look.
