Through a dark forest, across a rotting
drawbridge, in a dusty castle, there is an altar. On this syrup-stained altar are remnants of decadent treats from days’ past – candy bars, fresh pastries, splotches of powdered sugar. All have been offered, cordially, to those who
delight in the gustation of such sweet treats.
This offering we make to you is a pitch black Imperial Stout loaded to the brim with
chocolate, vanilla, and coconut. It has the
texture of a melting ice cream sundae on a moonless night and the complexity of hedge maze made by a madman.

L: jet black body is capped by a huge light brown head that holds incredible retention
S: dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, roast
T: I like that it’s not too sweet; nice balanced notes of roasted barley, dark cocoa, coconut, vanilla, earthy hops
F: full body, ample carbonation, finishes more
bitter than sweet with roast, char, and earthy hops lingering
O: I expected this to be too sweet like so many other stouts brewed with chocolate and coconut. This was not the case. This is a nice roasty stout with some coconut, dark cocoa, and vanilla additions.

I have been a frequent visitor to Charleston for many years but I never seem to be here when I could get the this brewery when they were open. This visit I find out they have a second location that is close by and open so my wife and I went there today. This beer is kinda in a style I really like but the Chocolate Macaroon name almost stopped me from getting one of the better beers I have had before. Simply wonderful and not sweet or over powering with one thing. Just really nice. So I bought a 4 pack and a crowler to ale back home and share? Well, maybe or maybe not. Just kidding as I will absolutely share some. I am not sure if this is available year around or not, or is seasonal, or just a one time fun beer for E OAST. I hope they keep it coming.
