16 oz can, "1244 Mosaic", dated 9/27/21, into Homestyle Willie Beecher glass.
A nearly perfect, gorgeous hazy amber-gold with a finger of fluffy head. Leaves lots of lace as it recedes. Artwork.
Aroma of strawberries, melons, mild perfumey pine, and crisp pale malt. Sort of faint but can still get a good nose by inhaling from the can.
Flavor is crisp malt, I'd say 80% pale 20% cara. It follows with lightly astringent hop greenery, then strawberries, papaya, mushroom, and melon, finally fading off on pine/cedar/perfume. This beer grows rather boring quickly on the palate. The excitement fades as quickly as the flavor. After that first sip it tastes like most any regular pale ale brewed in the last 5 years. No hop bursting translates here despite its "DDH" description on the front of the can.
Feel is crisp and smooth, creamy, with no alcohol heat and just a tiny bit of resin hanging on at the end.
Overall, ineffectual, weak, boring, not up to snuff. I expected more from Edmund's Oast. This might as well just be a hoppy lager. You might like it, but chances are you won't. Let this one sit.
