Received as part of BIF33 winnings. Woot woot!!
Pouring a cellar temp 16 oz can into my snifter. Can is date stamped 10/08/21.
The beer pours a clear cola brown color that seems to get darker as it fills my glass. A beige fluffy and soft looking head of 4 cm foams up and almost tops my glass. This foam fades slowly and leaves windowpane lattice as it drops down the sides of my glass.
Aroma is what I expect, some dry bakers chocolate, not sweet, and a good hit of smoked malt that is much more smoked meat than firepit ashes.
No real hop character on the nose. Booze also hidden.
First sip reveals a medium body and soft mouthfeel. The carbonation is fine and gently rolls across my palate. However if I swish the beer I do get frothy foam to bubble up.
Flavor has no surprises. Malt profile is a little more roasty and still some bakers choc notes. No real hop character and then the smoked notes take over. Again more smoked meat tham char or ashpit character. The finish does allow some dark chocolate and is very dry to my palate.
No hint of booze anywhere.
This is a nice smoked porter that delivers what you would expect.
Another nice beer from a solid southern brewery!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
