Double. Secret. Old. Beer. Yeah, that’s what DoppelSticke Altbier means, but… what does that mean?

The beer’s fresh, but the style’s old. Traditionally brewed in Düsseldorf, Germany this is an “imperial” version of the classic toasty brown Altbier.

Picked up a 16oz can from the Blue Door Bottleshop in Hendersonville 2-9-23 for $5.00. Canned 1-2-23; consumed 1-7-23. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poure dark brown with an okay white head.

Nose has a slight sour tang on top of the toasted malts.

Taste follows the nose as the toasted malt base is turning to a slight sour tang. Hopping is adequate for the style leaving a slightly sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth.

Overall i have to say this was the first disappointing beer from Edmund’s Oast.
