A Mt. Rainier pint glass hosted this very dark brown (SRM 29-31) beer with dark cola and mahogany highlights. One half inch of creamy chestnut head settles within two minutes to a thin blanket. A fine lather of lacing is deposited on the glass above the clear beer.
Surprise, surprise, it smells like oatmeal and milk chocolate. Charred malt and roasted coffee beans quickly take charge.
Charred malt and black coffee are fully in control of the mild bitterness and light sweetness. It is all about that malt and coffee. Long into the strong finish, one still finds charred malt and roasted coffee dominating the senses.
A medium to full body with a smooth texture and alcohol that is a bit higher than expected. Carbonation is modest and astringency is light.
This is a very well-done Oatmeal Stout. I am enjoying it on a cool, sunny, summer afternoon. It would also pair well with an early-to-mid autumn afternoon. By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, charred malt and roasted coffee dominate.

No date on the can.
Not really encouraging name or can art - white on black complete with Death itself (himself/herself??) and 3 -4 skull&crossbone images interspersed with useful beer info.
Dark, clear but opaque with a tall, tan head and drapes of lace cling.
Aroma is coffee infused stout - rich and heady, sweet and charred.
Sweet up front with more coffee character and hints of bitter chocolate followed by a dry, semi-smokey finish.
Medium plus in body, which was more than expected at 5% with nice complexity and black grain flavors.

This one pours a darkish black color, with a small white head, and tons of lacing.
This smells like roasted malt, dry dark coffee, smoke, and some chocolate.
This has a very strong and very dark and roasty coffee character - it feels extremely strong and caffeine-heavy, which makes sense given that it is made with Death Wish coffee. It's an overall very dry and roasty stout, with a touch of smoke, some earthy vanilla, and dark bitter chocolate.
This feels creamier and thicker than the lower ABV would overall suggest, but it's certainly not a thick beer. It's very drinkable.
This was a nice little stout - nothing crazy, but a good showcase for the intense coffee from Death Wish.

Dark brown rich appear, moderate head, decent retention, minor lacing. Bakers chocolate, vanilla, and espresso notes come through well. Moderate to light body and carbonation.

16 oz can, dated 1/14/20 so about 6 weeks old
Pours jet black, tan colored head. Decent head retention. Really really nice rich espresso aroma, some dark chocolate too. Taste is heavy on the strong coffee flavor too. But despite being bold, its not too bitter, dry nor acidic. Really tasty. Medium bodied, smooth feel.
Overall this is a one of the best coffee stouts I've had.

-ebony tap pour with a very thin foam cap that quickly disipates to a ring. The flavor is toasted malt first. Deep coffee notes and a bit of dark chocolate follow. The mouthfeel is smooth. This is a richly flavored and pleasant brew.
