Pours Texas tea black with a mocha head on this New Years Eve. Aroma is chilled coffee, and taste is unsweetened chocolate , dark roast coffee, super tasty bitter with a hint of sweet and bitter . Creamy oats, silky milky good. We got a fire going , it’s really good!

Appearance: After opening the can what pours out is well a wonderful abyss of darkness. On top is nice beige head about two fingers thick.

Aroma: Heavy chocolate malt, very dark roasted hop. And an incredible amount of dark roasted coffee.

Taste: So silky smooth on the pallet. Bourbon, vanilla, chocolate malt. And heavy coffee notes.

Overall: Such a wonderful treat on this cool fall night. Prost.

just my second beer from these guys, random find in my parents beer fridge, some gems in there this time through. a pretty textbook oatmeal stout here, like its frothy and bigger feeling, i can taste the oats specifically, and the fermentation is clean and proper, this has a lot to offer, including high drinkability for the style, and was the perfect drink on a chilly fall evening in central new york. we need less beard talk in naming and branding across craft right now, but the beer in the can is excellent. deep shiny brown pour to it, moderate viscosity, super thick shaving cream textured pillowy light brown head, sexy lace and retention in my wine glass, looks fabulous. the smells is bitter from the roast with an almost burnt coffee note, i swear i get some woodiness, light smoke, raisin, and dark chocolate of the finest quality. there is a slight english element to the grain, maybe to the yeast too, but it also lacks the caramelized malt center that makes so many of these one and done, way more dry and bitter and roasty than it is sweet, which i love. the flavor is the same as the nose, bitter the whole way not just in the finish, organic dark chocolate as an undertone, bold but not overly intense, smooth as can be to drink, the oats are starchy and full of protein to me, add a lot to the body, creamy and smooth and soothing, but also a distinct taste that makes this feel like morning beer, especially with the coffee pop it finishes with. this is really well made, impressively so, and it kind of puts me in a cozy wintery mood. love seeing a stout like this with no frills in this day and age, a dying breed. very well done here, loved this!
