Pale straw gold (SRM 3-4) with a chill haze. The head is a big three inches of loose, white foam that stands half an inch above the rim. The head turns to seafoam and holds for a long while before settling to a puff and leaving sticky lace coating a Simpli Pilsner glass. Random carbonation forms a column within the glass.
The aroma is crisp with floral citrus and spicy lemon notes. Light ginger comes out before warmth releases mild sulfur that easily can be lost behind the grain.
Bitterness is crisp and mild, working with light sweetness. Grain and water crackers fill the profile, leaving no room for grass. There is a slight lemon pith in the long, clean finish.
There is no hint of alcohol in this light-bodied Pilsner with a satin texture. It is well carbonated and dry.
This is a fantastic Summer Pilsner. I definitely intend to get more next year. The can date says 21 April 2023, which is shocking, given how fresh it is four months later.
