Impaired Vision

Poured from undated 16 oz. can into a shaker glass. Its a hazy, bright yellow-orange color with a half finger cap of bright white, fluffy foam and lots of soapy lacing. A mild, citrusy nose with lemon, grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, a whiff of berry, and soft floral hops The taste opens with a strong dose of bitter lemon peel and grapefruit. The Citra influence is strong. The Simcoe adds notes of pine sap. The is an earthy malt base and the pilsner and wheat add a dry element but I'm not tasting any sweetness from the oats - perhaps due to age. But as the ale warms in the glass I am tasting additional tropical fruit sweetness. The Citra and Simcoe also provide significant hop bitterness throughout. This ale has a good, creamy feel with pleasant carbonation. The 8.8% ABV is noticeable but not overpowering. Overall, Impaired Vision grew on me with every sip. The age of the can is uncertain but it's tasting fine.
