-Light sweet chcolate and stale dark roast coffee. Malt 7/10 Hop 3/10-
5.6% and 32ibu, this porter pours thin and black. An impressive fluffy beige head forms, cloud-like and retained over a minute. Medium sized and active bubbles. On the nose are equal parts sweet chocolate and dark roadt coffee. A bit of toffee/nut brittle. Certainly malt forward but hops are there. Stornger on the palate and coffee and nut, cashew? It decelops into an almost burnt coffee taste- but not overwhelming. A pleasing balance of hops arise laster, beginning as dark bread malt. The mouthfeel is full and creamy but like almond milk, not coconut, with healthy carbonation. There is a minor odd aftertaste of booze which is surprising.
I enjoyed Holdfast and would order it again, yet there is room for improvement as far as intensity of flavor and aftertaste.
