Eli Fish Brewing Co.

Rating from 5/19/22. How I missed this, I don't know. It was a surprise highlt of this trip. Beautifully integrated into downtown Batavia, this large storefront Opens into a mish mash of old saloon and neighborhood tavern. Right away I felt ocmfortable and at home. Great service with an interesting variety of taps. Foos was good too, a caesear slad relly hit the spot. Very pleasantly surprised. would like to visit again.

No other beer advocate reviews so I'll say something about our visit to Eli Fish in Batavia, NY. We went to Fish for dinner about 9 PM after checking to a nearby motel for the evening in May, 2019. At that time of day, Fish is probably the only viable option in this quiet town besides chain outlets. Fish has a large hall with good pub food -- we had very good fish tacos and chicken wrap. A vegan food bar occupied a second kitchen (like an indoor food truck?) had closed at 8 PM. Apparently now (2024) that space is a pizza outlet. Fish offers a bunch of NY draft ales, including 4 of their own brews the night we were there. Beer selections that night did not align with our style preferences. We thought 42 North Westphalia Kolsch (slightly cloudy) was the best we sampled. The brewery is at a lower level. Some of the main floor flooring has been removed to allow viewing. Fish should be worth a try for residents of the area and refugees from the NY State Thruway.

 

Large bar and large seating area. Sat at the bar with my wife and were served very quickly. Large amount of beers on tap, but only a few of their own beers(6). Their beers were okay at best, but the selection of beers from other breweries was a nice variety of styles and breweries. Food came out quick and was very tasty. Would like to see more house brews, but would not hesitate to try some more of the food.
