The style given in the listing is incorrect.
Shorezy is a Kölsch. It’s listed as such at the brewery, and it’s a perfect execution of the style.
I usually don’t seek out Kölsch, because there often isn’t all that much there — unless it’s truly excellent, which is the case here. In terms of complexity and pure joy of drinking, it can hold its own against the most interesting IPAs.
The notes I took at the restaurant include “fresh, crispy, champagne-like”, which applies both to taste and mouthfeel. I didn’t really get any “non-beer” aromas, which is how a perfect Kölsch should be. I’m so glad I tried it.
The only possible deduction was that the 5 oz pour (part of a flight) had no head whatsoever. Kölsch isn’t supposed to have much head at all, but not a single bubble? Interestingly enough, this did not take away from the very vibrant effervescence of the pour.
(Since this was part of a flight, I am not going all out on appearance, mouthfeel, etc.; I am just sharing my subjective impressions, as noted in my phone while at the restaurant.)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
