Octopod is a hyper-viscous Imperial Milkshake IPA with a good helping of lactose and vanilla. Re-fermented on over half a tonne (more than 300g/l) of Alphonso mangoes and passion fruit. Generously dry hopped post-fermentation with both Citra and Mosaic T90 hops.

Pours an opaque deep orange coloration with a small, fluffy head that vanishes quickly. Smell is dominated by quite intoxicating, vibrant aromas of passion fruit, mango and vanilla. Taste is an excellent balance of light biscuity malt, hints of bitter, citrussy hops and strong notes of sweet and slightly acidic passion fruit and mango, as well as good dose of vanilla. Finishes bittersweet, with some passion fruit, mango and vanilla lingering in the aftertaste. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel with a rich body and medium carbonation.
This is quite possibly the first proper Milkshake IPA I've had in Europe, kinda reminds me of a mix between a NEIPA and a Kettle Sour. Think of the style what you will, but this seems like a really great example of it that I actually enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would. The key here is balance, which is what truly makes any beer great. The sweet, acidic and bitter notes being in perfect harmony here, with the vibrant, juicy tropical fruits being most dominant, followed by a good, not overpowering vanilla presence and hints of bitter hops, with a great, soft and pillowy mouthfeel as well. What is probably the most amazing about this though is that there is literally not a hint of booziness to this at 12% ABV and I really don't think that Wander Beyond are one of those breweries too stupid to factor fruit additions into their ABV calculations.
