Note gluten free, lactose free.
Lable: Dream-like, maple-leaf shape eared koalas riding orcas (aka 'Killer whales').
L- Deep brown, somewhat cloudy, pours with 1mm off-white head that looks like it won't linger long.
S- Rich, I get a sweet note, presumably maple, plus an ABV% note.
T- Surprisingly pungent! ...Gawwwd... into a fast pungency. I'm further surprised to notice it is numbing the roof of my mouth. It's a deep yet very piquant flavour, my lips are tingling. Malt, hops etc are all here, obviously, it's just the pungency vs hops 'all over my palate' are so off-piste, yet welcome!, I'm completely distracted...
F- Deep, pungent, notably hoppy, unashamed about it's ABV... polished, notably different...
O- What a swerve-ball of a beer this is, and yet a hugely enjoyable one. Put 'Maple' and '10%' together with hipster packaging and I fear a sugar-bomb; but no this really isn't like that at all. It's really big and bold, the maple aspect is noticable without dominating. I like it, darn $$$ though... [wince].
£6.75 from TremblingMadness/York as part of a DIY-picked mixed-case for home delivery > London. BB: 30/4/21
ps pinged it off my wife: 'Smells of shoes, but nice bitter chocolate taste in the finish' hehe...
