12oz can poured into a tulip

A- pours black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring

S- smells of roasted barley, raisons, chocolate, toffee and cherry tootsie pop

T- sweet chocolate and caramel up front. Mid-palate gives a slight tartness from the cherry, the finish tastes just like a cherry tootsie pop, with.a linger of roasted barley and raisins

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns slightly creamy into the finish

12 Oz can packaged on 2/12/2021. Part of a 24 can 4 variety case. Allowed to warm, then poured into a nonic pint glass

Pours a black body with a tan head. No retention or lacing

That familiar vegetal wort scent of many NA beers is present (especially at first pour) I'm getting grain with some chocolate and a few miniscule coffee notes.

Wow, interestingly, the taste is very unlike the nose. A mouth full of cherries. Sweet with a slight taste of semi sweet chocolate.

Medium full feel is appropriate for the style.

Quite enjoyable. The cherries on the taste seemed to come out of nowhere. I think the wort helped give it some of it's sweetness.

Look: A couple fingers of light brown head with very loosely packed and thin bubbles that go away quickly. Opaque, murky dark brown color. A first for me: Sediment of some sort in an N/A beer. Overall, not an appealing beer.

Smell: Initial impression is that woody, nutty unprocessed grain aroma. Very generic dark grain and no chocolate or cherry to speak of at first. As the beer warms the chocolate comes out a little and the cherry is barely perceivable. Smells like their All Out Stout with an odd twist.

Taste: The woody and nutty notes come through. There is a very slight fruit like aspect that must be the cherry. It has a slightly sour/butter milk thing going on and at the same time is a little sweeter than All Out Stout.

Feel: A little less carbonated than usual for Athletic which causes it fall flat. Pretty dry.

Overall: This is my least favorite Athletic beer alongside Run Wild IPA. It tastes like something went wrong with All Out Stout. I’d stay away from this and just stick what I assume is the “base beer” here.

I also have to add that I wish they’d give you more details about the ingredients in the beer, especially after seeing some other N/A’s do that. They could really up their appeal to the discerning craft beer drinker if they provided malt, hops, yeast, water and flavor additions of part of the beer.

Pours black with three fingers of sand-khaki colored foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is roasty and toasty malts right off the cusp, with bakers chocolate and faint cherry following. There is a twinge of that worty sweetness to the nose, bringing about a raw, grainy finish. Flavor profile is smooth chocolate, hitting notes of roasty, toasty, bready malts, baker's chocolate, milk chocolate, and cherries along the way. Cherries are really an after thought, until the malts fade away, leaving semi-sweet cherries lingering on the tongue. Somewhere along the finish crops up a bitter, over-roasted note, curtailing any lingering sweetness. The worty note in the aroma is still present in the flavor profile; however, it's much better managed here, more seemlessly fitting in with the rest of the beer. Mouth feel is creamy and smooth with small, grainy effervescence melding together into one smooth sip. Thickness is medium to medium-thin and is the only area this stout really lacks - presence is a little lackluster. Overall, stout here is formidable with chocolate and cherries added for additional flavor and depth.

Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 12oz can.

Pours opaque, dark brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is Bosco chocolate syrup, tobacco, and dark cherry. The cherry is never as overpowering as this is more of a chocolate beer. Medium-heavy bodied for the style, sweet, with low carbonation. I can tell that All Out is the base beer for this stout. The cherry adds a nice holiday variation on it. I enjoy this one and am glad I got the twelve pack.
