Rice Helles is a spin-off from our Kanpai Lager. We took the dry character from the rice in the Kanpai Lager and tweaked it to be more Pilsner-esque. In addition to the light malt flavors, there is a pleasant Noble European hop aroma, slightly floral and herbaceous. If you're looking for a refreshingly clean and pleasant brew, look no further!

Pours a murky, muddy blood-orange with a finger and a half of dense khaki-colored foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, resiny, and grassy hops with minimal bready malts to tie it together. There is a twinge of wort to the finish of the beer after the hops fade. Flavor profile is grapefruit, pine, resiny, and grassy hops with a light flash of lemon drop towards the back. Bready malts throughout tie it together to firm it up. Mouth feel has a soft, consistent effervescence that keeps that drinking more as a soothing beer, vs. crisp. Thickness is medium. Overall, some flashy hops up front with good body behind to keep this drinking as a soothing, flavorful IPA, without the hop burn or alcohol of some others.

Pours clear, amber in color with one third inch head. Taste is big pine and grapefruit. Bitter, medium light bodied with moderate carbonation. Makes for a solid west coast style ipa. Tastes like an average ipa which is a big step above the previous generation of non alcoholic beer but a pass for me based on the rest of the Pilot series. There are way better new generation non alcoholic ipas.
