An American Porter base with a blend of medium and dark coffee roasts. First Ride is a crisp and assertive sip of liquid motivation. It’s a tribute to the dedication it takes to get through the day and finish it strong. Rich and nutty, but still bright, with a refreshing boost of caffeine.

Poured no foam but has some fizz on top. Color of coffee and smells of chocolate and malt.
Taste is heavier on the chocolate/coffee and roasted malt side. Can taste similar to some other craft stouts you may of had. Not as strong on the coffee as some other coffee stouts I've had. Overall I actually think this one is pretty good. Not really any shortness of flavor. Would buy it again if I get a chance.

12 oz can, dated 11/08/24
pours very dark brown, with cream colored head. decent black coffee aroma, but the taste is a bit off, hard to describe and too sweet in the finish. medium bodied, I'd like a porter/stout to be a bit more full bodied.

Can poured into a nonic at Craft Brew Underground in Auburn, Maine.
Appearance: Sort of a dark cola color with a thin tan head that recedes quickly.
Aroma: Coffee, dark coffee beans, almost kind of burned coffee beans. A little bit of malt.
Taste: Follows nose. Coffee is forward. Almost sort of tastes like cold brew.
Mouthfeel: Somewhat light of body. Pleasant.
Overall: Pretty tasty porter, this. And nice to find one without the booze. Would have again.

A: The beer is close to being jet black in color and only has traces of dark brown near the edges of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a short light beige head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark malts are present in the nose along with hints of sorghum and burnt malts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of sorghum, coffee and dark malts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The sorghum-like aromas and flavors are a little detracting, but this low alcohol beer is quite aromatic and flavorful.

12oz can poured into a snifter
A- pours dark brown in color with a one-finger creamy khaki head that has great retention after the pour
S- smells like a coffee stout; plenty of roasted barley and coffee gives aromas of char, chocolate, ash, brown sugar, toffee and nutty coffee
T- coffee notes lead the way, with nutty and herbal coffee eventually giving way to notes of roasted barley, providing some ashy notes, as well as anise and chocolate. The finish gives herbal coffee and lingers of charred malt
M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns creamy into the finish
O- tastes just like a coffee stout, with an impressive creamy mouthfeel

Strong dark coffee aroma and flavors, blends well with the dark malty character. Some NA beers have a bit 'raw' grain feeling, but the coffee balances and cuts that out here.
Great NA beer, I love this one! Glad they have repeated brewing it beyond the first time I had it.

I like this one a lot. Rated against other NA beers as BA intends, but to me this is even a decent contender against some full ABV porters. Poured into a goblet I got a full inch of thick tan foam, although it did dissipate fairly quickly into a very thin film covering half the beer surface plus a thin ring of foam. Rich deep, dark brown with the merest hint of mahogany in the light, comparable to some of the best porters. A little lacing...not much. Impressed by the immediate hit of coffee in the smell, and likewise the taste. Sure the mouthfeel is on the thin-side, but once again, at least as good as many full ABV porters and better than many NA beers of any kind. All for only 105 calories and

Pours a nice black color with a somewhat thin espresso colored head with decent retention. Barely smells like coffee, good amount of malts, chocolate syrup. Tastes mainly like burnt coffee grounds with a salty aftertaste. On the lighter side of medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, thin mouthfeel. I like a lot of this breweries other beers, but this one just did not impress me.

Appearance: Dark brown color with a generous-sized foamy dark beige head that slowly faded. A good looking Porter.
Smell: Sweet unfermented malts and maybe the tiniest hint of coffee/roasted malts.
Taste: The taste profile features mildly sweet malt notes, and moderate coffee/roasted malt notes. The finish is fairly dry featuring some roast malts and coffee notes. I found the presence of the coffee/roasted notes a good thing as it helped the beer come off closer to an alcoholic porter/stout by countering the sweet malt tastes common to N/A beers.
Mouth-feel: On the light side of medium bodied with a fairly generous level of carbonation. As this is a Porter i won't be too critical here but a slightly thicker body would be nice.
Overall: I'm finding I need coffee in my non-alcoholic porters or stouts to keep the unfermented wort flavor at bay. Letting it warm up a bit let more of the coffee/roasted malt elements feature quite a bit more. Smooth Ascent is the only non-alcoholic Porter/Stout I've had that I like better than First Ride.

Pours a very near black color that reveals deep hues of burgundy when held against the light. Head is a finger of khaki-biege foam. Aroma is coffee, toffee, biscuits, bread, raw grain, and roasty, toasty malts. Coffee is right at the forefront, the clear focus of this beer. Unfortunately, the coffee comes off a little harsh and burnt, over extracted or brewed at too hot of a temperature. Flavor profile is coffee, toffee, dark chocolate and grainy, bready, roasty & toasty malts. Coffee is much more tame here, sweeping from coffee to toffee to dark chocolate. Coffee still comes off a bit harsh and burnt, but is better balanced in the flavor profile vs. aroma. Mouth feel is medium-thin with a soft crispness up front that bubbles down to a soft and mild finish. Overall, it advertises coffee, and it never skimps on the coffee features, unfortunately the coffee used comes off harsh, breaking up the flow of the aroma and flavor profile. Otherwise, it's a solid NA 'porter', and a notable NA coffee porter option at that.

This was the 10th different low alcohol beer that I've reviewed and my reviews for this style of beer are still very much a work in progress. Reviewed as a regular beer this grade should be a little lower. As a non alcohol beer, probably could have been higher...
12 Oz can packaged on 2/11/2021 Poured into a nonic pint glass
This was part of a 4 variety stout pack ordered from Athletic brewing
Pours a dark brown body with a tan head. Minimal retention. No lacing noted
A little of that familiar wort scent at first pour that thankfully dissipated somewhat after a few minutes. As it warmed I got a very prominent roasted coffee smell.
Taste followed with a definite coffee taste.
I wasn't sure what to make of the feel. Perhaps a little undercarbonated.
As an NA beer this was a pretty good porter.
