A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown + chestnut brown colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy foamy dark tan head that quickly reduces to a medium to large sized patch of very thin film covering a little more than 50% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Just shy of moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. Light aromas of vanilla + cinnamon with moderate aromas of slightly spicy ancho chilis.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of vanilla, moderate flavors of cinnamon, and slightly stronger than moderate flavors of slightly spicy ancho chilis. Finally there is a hint of earthy hops. Just shy of moderate amounts of roasty bitterness which slowly fades away leaving lingering ancho chili heat.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Drinks pretty easily considering the strength and hides the alcohol relatively well. Enjoyable with a nice combination of flavors/aromas that remind me of Mexican Hot Chocolate.
