Zondebok, 33 cl bottle. bb april 2012

I'm not sure this beer is the same brew as it was several years ago, when it was last reviewed.
It is stated as a rye beer.

Naturally dark colour, large head.
Smell is of dark fruits and mollasses.
Taste is not as sweet as expected. It finishes quickly and dry, with alcohol in the aftertaste.

This beer is a bit disappointing to me, due to the lack of complexity. It's ok, but not really interesting.

A deep-red, brown beer with a stable, creamy head and some flaky yeast.

Smell is laurel and spicy, a thin malt backbone and something like vegetable stock.

In the taste laurel is overwhelming, which give an unfresh impression. The laurel gives the beer a liquorice taste and I find it to be salty. This is not a bokbier, it misses the maltiness and caramel. In the end I can taste an acidic notes.

So, not a bokbier and not a good beer.

Well a first try of the beers from the halve maan since years. Pooring it in it showed that it has a lot of cabon dioxide in it.... not clear and just brown of colourbut with a nice yellow head made it nothing special. Smell malty, hay, no hops or esters to be found.... avarage again. Ok now the taste.... what's it of course is all about... sweet, little malty, sweet and no bitterness to be found... what to say except average...
