16oz pint at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square. Not much info about these guys online as of yet.
This beer appears a hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with one finger of weakly puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some decent snow rime lace around the glass as things slowly progress.
It smells of bready and doughy cereal malt, some orange and white grapefruit citrus rind, a wet chalkiness, and further leafy, weedy, and piney green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, muddled domestic citrus flesh, a bit of meaty yeastiness, some damp minerality, and more earthy, musty, and wet pine needle hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly benign in its lackadaisical frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, with just a touch of hop astringency maybe making a wee nick in the proverbial armour here. It finishes trending dry, the malt receding, and the hops wanly taking up the room in the vacuum.
Overall - this comes across as more of a simple pale ale, than anything IPA-adjacent. Easy to drink, I suppose, but they really need to amp things up if they're going to compete in the broader Alberta beerscape, at least in terms of big, beefy IPAs.
