Pours a large frothy foamy 2 finger head with med retention, fair lacing, very clear golden orange amber color
Nose some sweet malt, a little biscuity, with some candi sugar, fair fruity esters, light vanilla icing and candy, honey bread, perfumey alcohol
Taste brings more sweet sugar but not caramelized at all, candi sugar like, some citrus and fruit, orange marmalade into vanilla icing and cake notes, honey cake, perfumey alcohol, light phenol spices, a bit of spices like a cinnamon kinda thing, light bitterness, mild sticky sweet finish with a bit more alcohol
Mouth is med to fuller bod, med to lighter carb, fair warming alcohol
Overall it's not a terrible beer, but not close to a doppelbock which is sad cause this brewery makes some good beer, this was much closer to Belgian golden, almost as if they labelled it wrong or something, everything from the color, to fruits, alcohol, malt levels, sugar characters, etc, everything is more like Belgian golden than doppelbock.
