Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy golden-orange color with a one finger height head of fluffy white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time and leaving a good level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is very heavy of tropical fruits with a big showing of pineapple, mango, and papaya. Mixed with these are some aromas of orange and tangerine, as well as some raw and dank herbal and pine hop smells. Other notes of oatmeal and a bit of bread are there as well, producing a rather nice smell overall.
Taste – The taste starts with a big malty and sweet flavor with flavors of oatmeal, bread, orange, tangerine, mango, papaya, and passionfruit. At the same time there is a bit of a herbal and grapefruit hop along with some lighter notes of orange creamsicle and some vanilla. As the taste advances the hop gets slightly stronger, but remains relatively lighter overall, while the sweet and malt get even more intense. Toward the end a bit of peach and apricot join in as well, leaving one with a very sweet and heavy, lightly hopped fruity taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is very thick and creamy with a moderate to lower carbonation level.
Overall – A bit too sweet, without a nice hop balance for me. Not really my type.
