Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear deep copper amber color with a one finger head of just off-white foam. The head has a light level of retention, fading rather quickly and leaving a light level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma is rich of a toasted bready smell mixed with a strong showing of caramel and notes of apple and pear. There is also a good showing of toffee and notes of notes of brown sugar.
Taste -The taste begins with a toasted bready malt mixed with some sweeter flavors of caramel and toffee. There is also a very light level of apple and pear and notes of a light earth. As the taste advances, the flavors bitter slightly with a bit of nut and touch of coffee joining in, all while the roast gets stronger and the sweet gets a bit lighter. Toward the very end, a note of hay comes to the tongue, leaving one with malty and moderately sweet taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is a bit more chewy than the average Marzen of its abv, with a more subtle carbonation level.
Overall – A decent brew overall, but nothing too exciting overall.
