neat take on the style here, its hazy and dry hoppy and not so malty, really modern and sort of americanized version of english pale, although still with english malt at its core and the familiar low alcohol. the can looks more like miami than the uk too, and this is brewed specifically for mildreds, a vegetarian restaurant doing some real cool food, which is where we had this one. pale straw colored and hazy from the can with a full inch of lasting white head, ring lacing as it drinks, light looking for being haze, sunny and summery and appealing right away. the nose is fresh, uniquely hoppy, and clean. i get orange peel, lemongrass, and white tea, very little bitterness to me, nothing even close to overdosed, and a simple grain base in support, wheaty maybe even some oats, but its not starchy and heavy. the flavor is bright and lively, citrus again from the hops, maybe green gooseberry, fresh apricot, and ripe melon, not radical on the varietals or the proportions, but distinct enough, still squarely pale ale, very modern. the yeast is english and its appreciable in here, but its also very clean on the ferment, dry, and not as bready and obvious as it often can be in this style. i like the fast finish, the rushing carbonation, and that this still has some body with its low alcohol content. really good pale here, drinkable and versatile, nice with spicy food and umami flavors too, recommended! my first from these guys.
