Copper colored and clear. Modest head that becomes rim bubbles. After the initial ring of lace, there are random smaller spots on the glass.
Faint bready malt aroma. Slightly darker but not quite “brown bread”.
Very good dry brown bread flavor. Full bodied for the style but with higher carbonation as well. There’s a mild hop finish that nearly balances the beer. Short aftertaste. Overall, a superior Märzen.

As I tour some local Marzens, I came across the Remnant Brewery on my way to Aeronaut. A lovely little brew pub, with the operations right in front of you as you drink. Their Fest Lager is served in a heavy beer mug and the beer itself poses a caramel brown color. A big disappointment though was the lack of frothy head from this beer. It really never had one. Anyways, the liquid itself is standard malty bread, but has a good bitterness to it. Some marzens can end up like syrupy or too sweet, but this had a great balance of all these bitter and sweet notes. Solid work over in Somerville.
