Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a cloudy burnt orange color with a finger's worth of die-ing white foamy head. No lace.
The aroma had a nice blend of sour citrus rind that seemed to blend with some vanilla and tropical fruit juice-like qualities. A touch of sweet grass slid in underneath.
The flavor was somewhat sour developing some tart to sweet character as it warmed. Nice lingering sour to tart aftertaste, slight sticky sweet.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Not so much pucker with this one, but some sour harshness did come out fairly nice. ABV felt appropriate. Carbonation felt fine. Acceptable stickiness. Moderate sour in the finish.
Overall, pretty nice American wild ale that shows more balance than a fair amount of others in it's style. I'd have again.

On tap at Foam...
A: Cloudy orange jucie
S: Complex aroma that reminds me of a tropical paradise... mango, pineapple, vanilla, funk
T: The taste is spot on to the aroma of this beer. Not quite as acidic as the other HOF beers.
M: Soft and tart... a nice balance
O: Very interesting funky beer that is unlike any other that I've tried

A; The beer pours and settles in the glass like the contents of a carton of lunchbox fruit juice.
S: A lively stone fruit fusion that dissipates rapidly.
T: On the palate, there is a surge of mango sweetness, then sour notes, followed HoF's lingering "signature Dot series bile flavor", finishing with citrus bitterness.
M: There is a lack of carbonation and an excessive mineral richness to the mouthfeel that detract from the overall value of the beer.
O: The flavors of this beer are all over the place, with fruit, sour, and bitter pulling in all directions, all dialed up a bit too high to allow for any balance in the mixture. This was hailed as a 5-star beer by locals, and I can only imagine this actually being the case if your reference standard for superior sour beer falls somewhere south of Upland's "lambic" series. For $8 a pour, this beer seemed far too amateurish to warrant a revisit in the future.
