Taking our Dictator Russian Imperial Stout to the next level, meet the Tyrant. We aged our stout in Basil Hayden’s Bourbon Barrels for 5 months which we drove home from Kentucky. The aging smoothed this out and gives this beer oaky vanilla notes. You will drink this one, you will like it

Fresh crowler into pint glass. Pours a very dark, viscous brown with a brief but attractive tan head. Initial impression is milk chocolate, booze, oak, vanilla, and burnt malts. Allowing it to warm enhances the flavors immensely. Don't drink this cold.
Mouthfeel is medium-thick and quite smooth. Carbonation is minimal but adequate for the style. Finish is oaky and somewhat sweet, fading to roasted malts.
I will admit that I approached this one with more than a little trepidation. It's 32 ounces of 13.5% Imperial Stout, and I'm hunkered down at home by myself, social distancing. Oh, well - guess I'll just have to finish it myself. Fortunately, I don't have any commitments tomorrow....
