The beer that started it all… Created over a decade ago this beer is rich and a smooth drinker. This dark ale has hints of chocolate and subtle hop character.

Not bad and probably good for rookies trying or expanding into this brown style but I prefer bit more deeper and complex fare. Certainly avg or avg+

McAllister Brewing Company "First Love"
$6 / pint on tap at the brewery on 19 January 2019
Notes: 5.2% abv, 31 IBUs. Slightly hazy very dark brown body beneath a creamy head of light tan. Caramel, toffee, warm bread, and some low level diacetyl in the nose which is certainly OK for me given the style. The flavor follows with the addition of some very light cocoa powder and some background leafy hops. It's nicely balanced. Medium leaning towards medium-light in body and smooth with a moderate, fine bubbled carbonation. Average head retention and lacing but that may be due to a less than "beer clean" bar glass.
