Well Crafted Beer Company "Brouge"
on tap at the brewery on 19 January 2019
Notes: Belgian-style dubbel with added cherry puree at 7.5% ABV. Hazy deep amber/copper colored body without any head - possible dirty bar glass? Bad pour? Sat too long before being delivered? Very odd. The aroma suggests a sweetish caramel malt base and Belgian yeast character but no cherry. The flavor confirms a lighter than usual but sweetish caramel malt base with the addition of some light spiciness, banana, and then some cherry. The alcohol never shows. Nicely balanced by a median bitterness that brings it to a dry and gently spicy conclusion. Medium bodied and gently crisp with a fine-bubbled carbonation. It's quite nice actually, but not particularly what you'd think of as a dubbel, nor really a fruit beer either.

Dubbel with tart cherry puree
on draft at the brewpub, 12 oz glass
not as dark as a typical Dubbel, it's more dark golden than brown. aroma is malty and a touch of the cherry. the malt flavor is not as dark or deep as a typical Dubbel, not sure if this was intentional to allow for more of the dark fruit flavor to come trough. medium bodied.
