Pours an orange-brown color, a bit cloudy in the glass; initial thick head, light khaki colored and somewhat creamy texture. Initial whiff of barrel wood then a bold caramel presence; dark pitted fruit sweetness. Big flavor; caramel sweetness, candi sugar and brown sugar; figs; whiskey. Heavy body; boozy warmth oozing up through lightly sticky residual sugars.
A generally nicely crafted barrel aged beer.
Pouring temperature: 45 °F; canning info: 4/24/2023

12oz can "CANNED ON 04/22/2023" and poured into a stemless tulip shows a dull, dirty chestnut brown, body that, when backlit, shows a cloudy orange. A generous 1" cap of tight, tan bubbles briefly floats on top before receding with sheets of lacing coating the glass when agitated then legs it back to an edge hugging ring.
Complex aroma includes all the vanilla and caramel from the base Scotch ale combined with the oak, char, and booze from the time in the barrel.
That complexity doesn't quite carry over to the taste as the booze is a bit too strong for the base to come through. It is not exactly just bourbon, though, the sweetness cuts that down slightly.
Feel is appropriately medium to thin and a sugary remainder is left behind.
Overall not my favorite ba scotch ale, but still a pleasure to drink
