No can date
Pours a fizzy small head covering with med retention, a bit of messy lacing, clear auburn to mahogany colored beer with a bit of floaties
Nose is loaded with vanilla, vanilla cake batter especially, some sweet caramel and candy notes, I can't get over how much vanilla cake is there, some fruity white wine notes, some toasted biscuity reddish malt, some candied dried figs and dates
Taste more beer like thankfully, fair caramelized sugars, creamy doughy wheat, although there is a fair amount of vanilla cake batter, vanilla frosting, rich creamy buttery diacetyl I think, some fruity notes with a little candied fig, date, hint of a white port wine, mild bitterness at first, fair sweetness up front, a bit of toasted malt with biscuity notes, and buttered sweet bread, sticky finish, more fruity notes lingering, med bitterness with a bit of a spicy hop note kicking in, a bit of alcohol warmth as well late
Mouth is fuller bod, med to a tad higher small bubble carb, some slick diacetyl, fair warming alcohol
Overall mixed, base wheatwine seemed like it was heading in the right direction if not for the diacetyl getting in the way, loads of vanilla which must be from a combo of the barrel with diacetyl and maybe some of the cognac, which added a bit of fruity undertones, def not a drain pour but I feel like they have some tweaking to do in the fermentation or barrel aging
