Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) can into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass; no production information.
A: Pours a hazy, golden color with a rose tint, perhaps, a one to two finger, short-lived foamy white head, rim retention, and spotty lacing.
S: The early aroma profile is strawberry shortcake. Breaking that down: strawberry, vanilla, cookie, and honey. As it warms, the strawberry remains front and center, the others recede.
T: Semidry. Fruity with strawberry, but vanilla, honey, and cookie flavors all remain. Too bitter at first (strawberry pips do that to strawberry wine, as well), but moderates with time. Strong cookie and fruit aftertaste.
M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: I was so disappointed by the "Summer Blonde" from WHBBC, as well as some of their other offerings, but this is actually nicely done, and I could see it appealing to those who like beers.made with real fruit. Strawberries are a big thing in Eastern LI and timing is such that there is little question that this was made with real fruit.
