8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square. Like I've said before, this beats the hell out of having to drive all the way out to St. Albert, no offense.
This beer appears a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with one skinny finger of wispy and weakly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some decent hanging curtain pattern lace around the glass as things quickly subside.
It smells of gritty and grainy cereal malt, a bit of apple and pear fruitiness, faint gasohol notes, and some plain earthy, musty, and floral noble hop bitters. The taste is bready and crackery pale malt, muddled pome fruity esters, ephemeral petrol fumes, and more understated leafy, herbal, and floral green hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its palate-assuring frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and generally smooth, with just a touch of hop acridity making a few minor waves at this particular juncture. It finishes trending dry, the malt going down to biscuit town.
Overall - this is certainly a well-made version of the old-school style, full of good lager flavour. Nice and crisp, and a pleasure to put back after a literally shitty day (sorry, kiddo).
