Designed as a fun compare and contrast, INTO THE LABYRINTH: ROUTE 21 and ROUTE 22 are siblings, both equally culled from one large batch of an experimental new triple IPA recipe. Each beer had the same exact hopping rate, except ROUTE 21 is a single hop approach (all citra) and ROUTE 22 is a multi-hop cocktail (citra, galaxy and nelson). Obviously, both beers take on different expressions from the hops used, but these companion beers also demonstrate how the hops used effect body and mouthfeel for those curious how base recipes are designed with the hop bill in mind.

Sandy gold, peach nectar appearance. 2 finger fine white head that dissipates to a frothy ring. Softtt yeasty bread nose, tingling herbal, floral, grassy airs, with pale pear, peach, white grape, melon. Drinks with ease for such a big beer. Incredible mouthfeel; medium thick, creamy cool, pithy chewy. Hop saturation and alcohol burn and tingle across the middle. Hop profile is pear, peach, lemon, lime, cucumber, strawberry, kiwi, honeydew, parsley, spring onion. Almost confectionary with dessert biscuit, sourdough yeast + malts. Pulls off slightly medicinal, alcoholic swagger. Love it. You're going to *feel* the Galaxy and Nelson to your core. I forgot to write up 21, but I liked the all-Citra version a little bit more.
