Brewed using Canadian malts and spruce tips rom Harmony Valley arm in Viroqua, WI, this woodsy, warming concoction is a smooth spring sipper.

I love spruce beer, and this one is pretty good. But I prefer Alaska Winter Ale to this.

Bottled on 4/4/2024, bottle from brewery
Foam is off-white with average retention. Beer is a light amber color, transparent, though some sediment at bottom of bottle.
Aroma of somewhat oxidized pale and toasted malts that conveys a slightly bready, earthy, sweet character. No indication of actual spruce scent in aroma.
Flavor is of oxidized pale and lightly toasted malts with a lightly sweet, bready, and possibly slight caramel malt character. There's also a mild spiciness (likely from alcohol or possibly hops) and earthiness (from malt or spruce tips). If there was any distinct spruce character in this beer, it has long since vanished.
Medium to medium-heavy in body, carbonation of medium intensity (~2.3-2.4 vol co2). Little to no alcohol heat/burn in throat/nose despite the higher ABV. closes surprisingly dry.
C/C- (mediocre malt flavor and lacking advertised spruce character)
