Beer #3 from the KALEA Beer Advent calendar in Canada. 330 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. Thanks Kevin and Nicole. Best before April 2020.
Appearance - Clear, rich golden color with a minimal amount of head. Any head that is poured fizzles off almost instantly. Small amount of visible carbonation.
Smell - Some slight grassy notes and a plethora of metallic aromas. Maybe some earthy hops. Still smells pretty bad after a couple sips and whiffs.
Taste - Some grainy flavors, plenty of bitterness and a slight metallic note in the taste too. Metallic flavors do fade and more bready and biscuity notes show.
Mouthfeel - Weak carbonation yet still feels gassy in the stomach. Body is fairly thin and quite limp. Again strangely after a couple of sips this seems to get a bit better.
Overall - I don;t want to pile on too much, but this is thoroughly mediocre. Maybe it's a bad bottle, but was rather underwhelmed. Hope that everyone else who tries this has a better experience than I had.
