i wanted a lot more from this one, especially on a chilly grey early november afternoon with some snow flurries in the skies, but it was hands down the worst beer we had in here yesterday, really missed the mark. its flat from the tap, no head at all, a real turn off in a style where i want a big frothing german head to spill over, not the case. its clear though, so well refined in the end at least. smells a little burnt, scorched sweet malt at the core, a bland lager yeast, and an astringency that doesnt belong. nutty in the flavor, they got the malt base right on this, lots of vienna type grain, autumnal and nutty, just fine, but it has a weird burnt and chemical element, maybe a circulation issue, maybe something in the fermentation thats gone off, but it doesnt come together. worse, it stays really sugary which limits how much of this we want to drink, and it lingers way longer than something like this should. good to see a new brewery tackling a seasonal lager like this, but the execution needs some work here...
