Sampling a cellar temp 16.9 fl oz bottle poured into my snifter. The beer pours a black coffee hue with creamy tan head of 2,5 cm that settles to a sturdy surface layer.
Beer is pitch black and I cant see through my glass even when held to the light.
The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate and some coffee grounds. I dont really get any nutmeg that is mentioned on the label.
No hop scents and the booze is well hidden on the nose too.
First sip reveals a medium body and gentle rolling carbonation. the texture is smooth and soft on my palate and this beer is way more drinkable than a 10% imperial stout should be.
Flavor is rich and malty with again, no real hop profile to show for. I get roasted malt, coffee grounds, dark chocolate and a little bit of brown sugar. Again, the nutmeg is missing, and I dont really get anything from the barrel either.
No hops and totally hidden booze, with no warmth, and no fusol black pepper or bitter notes.
This beer is insanely drinkable, but is also a little lacking on the nose and flavor for what I was anticipating.
It is a great big beer and Im glad to have tried it, but I would get other imperial stouts from the Beeracks Collaborative before this one again.
