Appearance: Black, clear. Develops a nice mousse-like head that holds with moderate retention
Aroma: No hops, roasted malt, cocoa, some toffee
Flavor & Aftertaste: Roasted malt, cocoa and a slightly tart toasted coconut flavor. Moderate bitterness. Moderate malt sweetness
Palate: Mouth-coating, gets a little chalky halfway through a glass. Medium to full bodied, but not heavy on the tongue. Long finish with a bittersweet finish.
Overall: Reviewing this beer vs other adjunct stouts. Of the many combinations of adjunct stouts, I an lukewarm on those coconut. I know a lot of people love them. This one has a lot more tartness to it than bitterness in my opinion. It also gets a little chalky about halfway through the glass. Line Creek is a solid brewery out of the Atlanta area. I love their Maverick Helles and First Crush IPA. This is not one I would drink again; but remember, I'm not a fan of this style. If you like Coconut Porter or Coconut Stout, by all means please do give this a try.
