High Prairie is a light yellow pilsner in the frailest of pastel straw colors. It is exceptional in its timid pallor though enjoyable for this improbability. It's clear-ish, not clear, and certainly not as clear as a lagered beer perhaps ought to be. But I found this to be a wonderfully drinkable beer. In fact, as soon as I finished my pint, I immediately pursued a repeat pint - something I very rarely do.
High Prairie shows enthusiastic carbonation, but is challenged to support more than a thin white rim of head. It has indifferent lace and a doughy aroma tinged with sweetness. Its crisp, clean drinkability is informed by lemony flavors enhanced by a sharp smack of bittering. Malts are supportive with just enough sweetness to hold your attention.
Drinks frightfully easy on a warm summer's day in the beer garden. And you couldn't ask for a better complement to those Monday night tacos.
