Very malty aroma, clear amber in color with small silky head. This is one of my favorite German styles, but I find the American varieties lacking. This is decent but doesn’t have the alcohol kick or smooth flavor of Bavaria.

Appearance- Poured into a tulip and rises up with a fair amount of light beige head. The body is a crisp dark amber color with hints of orange. The foam dissipates rather quickly while leaving some lacing on the glass.
Nose- Not much going on here except a clean, soapy smell with a little bit of ester in it. Perhaps this needs to warm up a little bit more but right now the aroma is very faint. It grows a little bit and I detect some caramel and chocolate.
Taste- I first notice a bitterness mixed with brown sugar and oak. Not really a whole lot going on in this department quite yet either. Seems a little watery. There is nothing really offensive about it. It's a boring beer at this point.
Mouthfeel- This may be a little then in relation to the flavor profile. Also, this may be over carbonated- it stings the tongue a little bit.
Drinkability- So far, this is pretty easy drinking. There isn't a whole lot going on in the flavor department and the alcohol is muted so its really easy to kick this back. However, there isn't much calling you back.
Overall- A rather average beer that is more a C- than a C. Doesn't do anything really wrong because it doesn't do much of anything.

On tap at McCormick and Schmick's Harborside Room PDX during respite from OBF, 7.24.2010. Brown/amber body with some red highlights, clear with no visible carbonation, 1/2 finger white head, quick dissipation with minimal lacing. Nose is pretty clean up front, not much going on, a bit of faint coriander. Taste is the same pretty non-descript, minimal hop presence. More of a dubbel than a weizen, IMO (Dunkelweizen?). I'm a bit unsure about drinkability since I'm having a hard time getting ahold of the aroma or taste profile.

Just had on tap at their Hood River tasting room an pub. Brewed by packaging supervisor, Wendell Bryant.
- Nice dark clear reddish brown ale with a light mocha colored head... leaves a nice thin layer of fizz...
- Very light and sweet grainy smell... little molasses, brown sugar, wheat... light grain... smooth caramel sweetness....
- Smooth sailing, not overly sweet brew... sugary, brown sugar, grain... and not much hop to speak of.... over all a very smooth, yet bland wheat. Guessing there is still more grain than wheat... but it is present.
- Sweet, slightly sticky, and medium bodied.
- Overall very drinkable.. hides it's strength very well... and is very smooth. Worth trying for sure. Overall though it was just lacking something for me... seemed rather bland and ordinary.
