One of the highlights of Japanese cuisine is the tea. And one of the most delicate and flavorful teas is made using the Jasmine petals, called Matsurika in Japan.
Following the success of Matsurika, our Bohemian Pilsner using these flowers, we decided to create a delicious dark variation of it, a Czech Dark Lager. The combination of roasted malt with the floral aroma makes this a truly perfect beer for the colder months.

16oz can
Pours like four fingers of light brown head into my Willi, idk basically half of the glass is foam…anyways, retention is better than I’d like considering I want to drink this at some point. Lacing is good. Body is black with brown hues. Massive nucleation shows when held to the light. Looks…foamy.
Nose is chocolatey, slight roast, and maybe a hint of jasmine. Fair amount of minerality that borders on carbonic acid, which can be hard to see past. Smells alright
Flavor is chocolate forward, jasmine is noticeable in the finish. Acidic, but it dies down relatively fast, at least in a glass. Tastes good.
Light bodied. Carbonation is absolutely through the freaking roof, feels like a saison. Bitterness is relatively low. Well-attenuated. Mouthfeel is very abrasive until it has time to air out.
Drinkability is fine.
Overall a super weird carbonation, so prominent it affects the flavor profile. The can was purchased room temperature, so I guess refermentation is a possibility, but even that would be condemnable, especially in a lager. Once that all subsides, it’s a pretty decent beer.

Deceptively light for something that looks like it’s going to be a stout. Pleasant drinking
