Sampling from a cold 32 oz growler poured into my trusty snifter. A gift from my cousin Joe, Thank you!
The beer pours a slightly hazy copper color with a creamy bleached white head foaming up 3 cm on a gentle pour.
There are a few lazy streams of carbonation rising to the surface of the beer.
The aroma is sweet and spicy with some coriander notes and bready yeast notes mixing together. I also get a bit of black pepper and some anice on the nose. Fairly complex and appealing nose. I dont get any hops nor any hint of ABV, which makes sense on this lower ABV brew.
First sip reveals an average body with crisp texture and fine gentle carbonation. The flavor is some grainy malt and bready yeast , but this rolls to some sweet spices. I get coriander and again some anice mixing with a bit of light white grape flavor and some cloves. Again, not much hop profile and no booze here neither.
A solid approach to a less than common brewstyle. Well done, especially for a new brewery that is probably still dialing in its recipes and equipment. I would drink again if at this new spot in Johnstown!
