Sampling a cold pour from a 32 oz growler. Pouring into a snifter, the beer is a gift from my cousin Joe. thanks man!
The beer is a slightly cloudy copper color with a creamy eggshell white head of 2 cm. The foam fades quickly to a thin edge layer and a wispy island on the surface of my glass.
The aroma is big on hop profile with floral and grassy notes mixing with citrus. There is a little bit of toffee backing up the hops on the nose, but this is a hop forward beer.
The first sip reveals an average body with very fine and tingly carbonation. The texture is a little slick and the beer drinks easy.
Flavor is the briefest toffee hit and then moves to citrusy hops with grapefruit hits dominating. The finish is pretty bitey and is more grapefruit rind leaving some astringent notes on each swallow. The finish is also pretty dry which encourages me to take another sip. I dont get any hint of the alcohol on this beer and find that it drinks pretty easy for a bigger IPA.
This is a good IPA, I think it would benefit from a little more complexity in the hop additions, but otherwise its solid. Dont expect a NEIPA here though, this is much more west coast style.
