Pours clear, pale gold in color with one third inch head. Taste is lemon, hay and funk. Medium body, moderate low carbonation, funky. A good not great tripel. Good enough to keep me curious in the brewery.

The Brew Society "Martha"
11.15 fl. oz. brown glass bottle coded "BEST BEFORE: 13 L5070F07 2027/03/11". Sampled on 2026/04/13.
$4.37 @ Lower Merion Beverage Co., Ardmore, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a clear golden body beneath a thumb's width or more of fluffy bright white foam. I'm a little surprised at how clear it is given that it's bottle-conditioned. Ah, yes, I can see the yeast is finely compacted at the bottom of the bottle. The aroma is fruity with apple, pear, and lemon backed by some crushed black pepper and a sweetish malt base. On to the taste - it's a lot more malty and sweet than the aroma lets on, but the notees remain the same. There's some alcohol there, which helps to balance it in the finish. How strong is this? Ah, it's 8% which I guess makes sense. Duvel's 8.5%, right? What else am I tasting... there's a touch of honey, some clove, an almost apricot note, some grassiness, a little bit of earthiness, some plum, and a woodiness that reminds me of dried coriander seeds (the label does not list spices as an ingredient). The lemon is a minor note here. It's sweet up front but somehow it finishes mainly dry with the bitterness, alcohol, and peppery spiciness combining to help dry it out. It lingers for a long time, as it should. It's interesting, and fairly complex. In the mouth it's light-medium in body, or maybe that's actually medium-light, but you get the idea. It's spritzy with an effervescent, fine-bubbled carbonation that livens the tongue. The head held up well, and it left some very nice lacing about the glass. I did a quick search prior to buying this and it didn't have great reviews but I find it quite charming. I love the balance of sweet-fruit-spice, and although it does seem a bit edgy it really has something special going on. It's unique, which is fairly hard to pull off when brewing a tripel, and I appreciate that.

Poured into a chalice: color i s straw gold, head is bright white with fine to small bubbles, head presents at least 2 fingers thick and dissipates to froth top with a lot of lacing on the glass sides.
Smell is a bit peppery, with clove, pith, citrus, malt, some biscuit.
Taste is similar with clove, mild pepper, earth, citrus, malt, biscuit.
Mouthfeel is lower carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness.
Overall a very good blended style bpsa/tripel - spiced yeastiness with malt and some mild hop character.

From a bottle. Pale amber color with foamy white head. Fruity yeast aroma. Medium body with good carbonation. Banana and cloves with a peppery hop bite. Classic Belgian flavors

Beer #17 in the 2020 Advent Calendar
Beautiful golden colour and nice head that dissapates fairly soon after pouring. A heavy hitter at 8% ABV, this one has attitude. Thick mouthfeel keeps the flavours lingering well after swallowing. Banana and cloves, more biterness than I would have expected.
If it had been fresh from a cask or on-tap, this could have been a #1 contender.

Day 17 on the beer advent calendar
Full of carbonation and a white head that hung around to be enjoyed. Sweet with a touch of bitterness which sneaks up part way through. Nothing overpowering in the taste but a decent marrying of flavours.
