City Beer

First time there. Angel is the manager and he knows beer better than me. Major league server,18 taps all great,good carbonation. Fridges of take homecontain the best of the best beers coming into nyc. Not a big place yet well set up. Go to place in.manhatten up there with blind tiger.

If near GCT, East River Ferry, Sea Streak, or E 39 St, this is a great snug oasis. Beer selection is great if you need to pack a quick can too. I try to swing by here on way to evening ferries.

 

Vibe: I stopped by this place on a Sunday morning, just two days after it opened. A small bar is located in the center of the store and there are one or two tables located on either side of it. It seems like it could make for a good after work craft beer spot in the Murray Hill and East Midtown area, especially since it is right next to a bunch of high-rise office towers on Third Avenue and near Grand Central Terminal.

Quality: Beers were served at the proper temperature in snifter glasses. Most of the cans and bottles were stored cold in refrigerated coolers, out of direct sunlight.

Service: I sat at the bar so service was quick. The bartender was very knowledgeable about each of the beers available on-tap and offered plenty of recommendations.

Selection: The place has a total of 18 taps, 2 of which were occupied by ciders. Most of the beers were from the local area and included offerings from: Barrier, Finback, Five Boroughs, KCBC, Magnify, and Singlecut. There were also coolers located on either side of the bar that had lots of different bottles and cans that could be purchased to go. Crowlers are also available. They had a wide selection of beers from all styles that wasn't primarily focused on IPAs.
