Pitchfork Betty’s Pale Ale is driven by malt with an all Australian hoppy focus, and balanced with passionfruit and pineapple tones, one sip and you’ll agree that all others pale in comparison.

Purchased at the source in August 2022, drunk in December.
L: Dark honey with a persistent, frothy, bright-white head. No carbonation is evident in the glass.
S: The aroma is subtle, but there's stonefruit, guava, lychees, and papaya.
T: Taste is also subtle, with guava and lychees the predominant note. There's a mild bitterness that accentuates the subtleties of the flavours.
M: As with the bitterness, the mouthfeel is restrained and subtle.
O: This is an enjoyable easy-drinking pale ale. It didn't hit me over the head with a tropical fruit basket, but those notes were there and rewarded searching.
Cheers!

$18 AUD per 1140ml jug at Dougie's, Port Douglas, Australia.
COLLECTION: Flagship Range
COLOUR: Pale amber
BODY: Medium
ABV: 5.1%
IBU: 35
MALTS: Ale, Maris Otter, and Caramunich
HOPS: Columbus, Galaxy, Cascade and Centennial
Forgettable, with an uninspired hop profile and a caramalt/2-row malt backbone.

12/23/22 another jug... it's the only microbrew available at a decent price around these parts and the brewery itself charges more by volume (probably fleecing the tourists who amble off their reef cruises).
APPEARANCE: Pale copper but a bit cloudy. Off-white head ~2cm in height. ~5 minute head retention.
AROMA: Overripe apple. Cane sugar. Hints of cidre.
TASTE: Overly sweet, which is to say it isn't anywhere near hoppy enough for the intended style. Has more of an apple cider flavour than a hoppy one, joining juicily with caramalt and generic pale malt (maybe it's 2-row, maybe it's 6-row, but what it isn't is rich or fresh in taste).
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, coating, light bodied but sticky and unrefreshing. Apple juice comes again to mind. Well carbonated enough. Not watery or syrupy, but it could use more body - though it doesn't have the flavour to warrant it.
OVERALL: A sad attempt at a pale ale, but they're the only game in town so they get away with it. If you need local draught beer in Port Douglas, I'd still recommend some of Hemingway's other beers over this, but if not purchased at the brewery ($10 AUD per sloop) I suppose this is the most affordable beer in their lineup.
The smart Port Douglas beer enthusiasts are advised to stick to buying Feral Brewing cans in the local Bottle Marts, but if you must have draught this is a notch or three above the Toohey's, Carltons, and XXXXs of the unfortunate Queensland beer scene.
