I received this beer from Gene, thank you, my friend. The beer is a kettle sour with pineapple and coconuts. This is my first beer from this brewery. The beer is 42 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour of the beer created a two-fingered white airy and foamy head. The retention is poor and left no lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 2, pale straw with light golden hues. This beer is clear with the occasional carbonation bubble popping towards the top.
I get cereal grains followed by pineapple for the initial sniff. Nosing further, I detect a hint of coconut and wheat. The aromas in the beer a faint. I only can perceive a few aromas.
The flavors in the beer are wheat, pineapple, and coconut with a splash of lemon. The flavors are somewhat muted. the beer is about five months old.
The mouthfeel is slightly sour and crisp.
The body of the beer is medium, medium-plus carbonation, and medium finish.
I am let down. I wanted the beer to brim with coconut and pineapple. I barely get the lactose in the beer but sipping the beer more I taste a subtle sweetness. For a sour, it is lacking. The beer is just okay. I was expecting this beer bright with tropical flavors but sour with some lactose toning it down. I did not get any of that.
