Feel the füry of this thirst-quenching kölsch style ale from SaltFire. Kölsch's are unique because they are fermented with a hybrid yeast and then finished with cold lagering. Roll in a superior hop blend and you have the best of both worlds: A light and easy drinking beer that presents a crisp and clean finish. Delightfully insane.

Warm and malty brew with a scratch of hops. This is really quite pleasant but it seems like a pretty loose interpretation of the Kölsch style. Hops are listed as Magnum and Sterling. Some peach flavor and then there is just a bitterish aftertaste, though it nicely balances the malt.
Pours a clear amber with plenty of foam in the wine glass. Aroma of cereal and straw with a green herbal nose. This is actually hard to pigeonhole, but as a lighter style of beer-- yet weirdly strong for a Kölsch-- it's quite drinkable. Fairly robust flavors. From the 16 oz can purchased at the brewery shop.

First things first, I think this is a great beer for the drinker who maybe enjoys the diversity of craft beer, but has neither the time or energy to really dive into a beer and analyze it. It’s all right there! You don’t have to look and smell and taste over and over to get a faint remnant of a flavor. It’s very easy drinking and highly enjoyable. Even my wife (who let’s just say has never had much of a taste for beer) said she could enjoy this. This beer was my first Kölsch. Ever. Never had one. Heard about them a few times before, seen a few reviews and I always though it just wasn’t really my style, so I stuck to my go to beers, IPAs, DIPAs, Ambers, Wits, and the occasional Lager. Boy was I missing out. I’ve now tried several Kölsch beers, and must agree that the Kölsch has to be one of (if not the most) the most underrated styles in the craft beer world. This one takes the cake so far for my favorite Kölsch. Very light color, with a relatively airy head, not so much that it feels like that of a cheap lager, but not dense as a stout or porter. Very similar to a nice pils I think. Smells initially very fruity, a bit of apricot, and citrus fruits. And the taste is no different. I’m sick of breweries that advertise a certain strong fruit characteristic and you taste it and wonder what planet that specific basket of fruit came from because it tastes nothing like what it would taste like on earth. I didn’t get that at all from the Fury. In fact I was expecting a very tame, understated fruitiness, one that you would really have to look for. And instead, I was pleasantly surprised to have it all handed to me right there in the first taste and sniff. Not overdone at all, and very nuanced. Carbonation was a tad higher than what I was expecting too, but not in a bad way at all. While it was higher. It was also very light as far as the feeling of the bubbles goes. Lots of light bubbles. I actually think this is my new go to beer whenever I can find it. Luckily I live in Salt Lake so most of the State Liquor stores carry it consistently. Very underrated beer in general, and a delightful introduction to the Salt Fire brewing company, as this is my first brew from them as well. I will definitely be picking up more of these, and more from SaltFire after this. Great beer.

Sparkling clear light gold colored body; excellent carbonation; very dense and rocky white head. An interesting aroma of yellow pitted fruit and citrus; grape-like and herbal. Light cereal grain flavor with a mild hop bitterness; a bit of estery quality lurking about. Medium-light body; soft and velvety with a gentle sweetness overall.
This beer brings nice balance and flavor to the palate. Easy drinking and nicely rounded with a variety of flavors.

350 ml bottle
Pours mostly clear golden. White lacing for a head.
Smells of citrus, grassy malts, and mild banana esters.
Flavor is of citrus, grassy malts, banana and bubblegum esters, and a dry bitter finish.
Medium body, tingly carbonation on the tongue.
Pretty decent kolsch, good pour, aroma and body. Flavor is a bit off balance. The bitterness doesn't balance with the esters perfectly. It's okay, not a terrible beer.

Look: Clear gold. 3 fingers of foamy white head with average retention.
Smell: Piney, citrusy hops with a orange peel, apple, and minor floral notes. Small amount of malt underneath.
Taste: Toasted malt immediately sheathed in the orange peel and apple hop notes, with a minor undercurrent of hop bitterness. Slightly sweet.
Mouthfeel: Full, smooth body with good carbonation.
Overall: A nice, fruity kolsch easy to drink on a hot day.

Kolsch beers, in my opinion, is a style neglected in the craft beer world. An excellent Kolsch beer is fantastic. Another Saltfire beer up on the reviewing block. The beer is 42 degrees and served in a stange. The pour on the beer produced a two finger head creamy and airy head. The head dissipated somewhat slowly. The head did leave lacing on the glass. The color the beer is SRM 4 a pale gold with straw yellow hues. The beer has effervescence floating from the bottom of the glass. The clarity of the beer is brilliant.
The initial aromas in the beer are apples, lightly toasted malts, and a touch of floral. Next, I smell a touch of herbal, a touch of grass, pears, and a grainy malty sweetness.
The initial flavor in the beer is apple, spicy floral and herbal. Next, I taste grass, grainy malty sweetness, crackers, and lightly toasted malts.
The mouthfeel of the beer is medium astringency and crisp.
The body of the beer is medium, medium-high carbonation, and a medium finish.
This Kolsch is wonderful. The flavors are within the beer style. The beer is fresh, I would not mind drinking more of these.

another easy drinking beer in a classic style from these guys, but another one with a little twist of modernity, this is a little less crisp and slightly hoppier than we would find in any import, but its still obvious what it is, and its a very well made beer, they all were in here really, super refreshing and a big gulper for me. we had a blast in here checking out some of their beers, all the bottles look so good, and the beers were all so well refined. this one is golden and bright in the glass under an airy white head with a ton of visible carbonation. smells like german malts and the classic kolsch yeast, minerals and dough, simple really, but then there is this big waft of fruity hops the comes on late, definitely beyond noble varietals here. the flavor is like that too, traditional up front, new school on the back end, not overly hoppy or anything, and still quite delicate overall, but some peach and pineapple notes come out of nowhere in the finish, but washed clean by high carbonation pretty quickly. a delicious take on the style, i like what these guys are doing!

Nice and creamy, biscuity and crackery. Some spice. Light-bodied and quaffable. A hint of lemon/honey in the nose. Some floral and honey in the frontend, followed by some smooth grassy hops. An easy-drinker. Great for summer
