The beer is little over three months old. I am hoping that this will not affect the final product in my tasting. I have drunk five Saltfire beers, thus far they have been above average. The last IPA I consumed, I loved. This beer is the Idaho 7 hop variety. The beer is 45 degrees and served in a pint glass. The beer produced a two finger bright white creamy, thick, and foamy head. The head dissipated slowly leaving chunks of lacing on the sides of the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 4 a pale gold with amber hues. The clarity of the beer is clear with little effervescence.
The initial aroma of the beer is oranges and lemons. Next, I smell malty sweetness, cardboard, and crackers.
The flavors of the beer are crackers, lemons, pineapple, pine, cardboard, solvent, basil, grass, oranges, and grapefruit,
The mouthfeel of the beer is astringent and dusty.
The body of the beer is medium, medium carbonation, and a medium-plus finish.
This beer is not my favorite IPA. The hop profile has this solvent notes and astringency that is off-putting. The harmony in the beer is off. They have made better IPAs from what I have tried.
